About the project

The project to modernize the permanent exhibition of the Museum of the Trilj Region integrates augmented reality and 3D technologies into the presentation of the Roman military camp Tilurium. A mobile application was developed featuring AR displays, 3D models, and virtual reconstructions of selected artifacts, including a Roman legionary and items of luxury pottery, jewelry, and weaponry.

Goals

  • Integrate augmented reality and 3D technologies into the permanent exhibition of the Museum of the Trilj Region.
  • Enable mobile-friendly exploration of the Roman military camp Tilurium through interactive AR experiences
  • Present selected artifacts — including a Roman legionary, luxury pottery, jewelry, and weaponry — in an engaging, educational, and visually immersive way
  • Bridge the physical and digital museum experience through a trilingual mobile application, connecting on-site visitors and remote audiences
  • Encourage active learning and visitor engagement with interactive elements such as a memory game that rewards users with free museum entry

Solutions

  • Mobile AR Application Developed a trilingual mobile app featuring augmented reality scenes, 3D models, and virtual reconstructions of the Tilurium archaeological site and selected museum artifacts.
  • 3D Modeling & Virtual Reconstruction Created high-quality 3D representations of key objects — from Roman armor and weapons to pottery and jewelry — ensuring visual authenticity and historical accuracy.
  • Educational Storytelling Integrated interactive annotations and historical context about the excavation process, camp architecture, and everyday life of Roman soldiers.
  • Interactive User Experience Designed an intuitive mobile interface allowing users to explore the site and artifacts through AR projection and interactive 3D viewing.
  • Gamified Engagement Included a memory game that connects entertainment with education — offering users a chance to win free museum entry while learning about Roman heritage
